Acute neurotoxicity
- Oxaliplatin causes cold -triggered paraesthesias or dysesthesias
- These develop immediately after infusion
- They affect the distal extremities or perioral region
- There are pharyngolaryngeal dysesthesias in some cases
- There may be associated tetanic spasms
- Fasciculations may be evident
- There may be muscle contractions of the extremities or the jaw
