Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain: features
- There is bilateral parieto-occipital vasogenic oedema
- These appear as increased signal on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC)
- They are hypo- or isointense on diffusion-weighted images (DWI)
- They do not demonstrate restricted diffusion on DWI
- They show as punctuate or confluent increased signal changes on FLAIR and T2-weighted sequences
- Infarction and haemorrhages may occur
