- Floppy baby

- Dropped head from axial weakness
- Muscle atrophy or hypertrophy
- Muscle contractures
- Facial weakness and ophthalmoplegia are not marked: unlike in congenital myopathies
- Cardiomyopathy: this is not present at birth
