Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis
- The CFS shows albumino-cytologic dissociation
- This is a high protein level with a disproportionately lower cell count
- Higher protein correlates with early severe disease course
- The cell count is <5 cells/μL in more than 80% of cases
- Cell counts ≥50 cells/μL can be compatible with GBS
