  • This is a non-aneurysmal SAH
  • It accounts for about 6% of cases of SAH
  • It is isolated to the cortical surfaces
  • The blood volume is less than in aneurysmal SHA
  • It does not extend into the Sylvian or hemispheric fissure
  • It does not involve the basal cisterns, the parenchyma or ventricles
  • By contrast, aneurysmal SAH tends to occur around the Circle of Willis
